Start-Up Helper: Finding the Right Coop Setup for Your New Chickens

Getting started with chickens is easy when you choose a setup designed specifically to suit your flock.

Our recommendations are based on more than 20 years of experience working with our specially raised hens. The coops, runs, and accessories we suggest have been thoroughly tested and proven to work well for our birds.

To help ensure excellent welfare standards, we also include an additional space allowance when calculating your coop requirements. This gives your chickens extra room to perch, nest, and move around comfortably. Something that is not always factored into standard coop capacity calculations.

We will help create a happier and healthier environment for your flock.

Please note that our recommendations are based on the needs of our own carefully raised hens, and housing requirements may vary for chickens sourced from other breeders.

Follow these simple steps to create the ideal home for your new hens.

Step 1: Choose Your Chickens

Start by selecting the chickens you’d like to keep. Different breeds have different characteristics, flock sizes, and housing requirements, so your choice of hens helps determine the most suitable setup.

We’ll do the hard work for you by filtering out any hens that may not be a good match, helping you build a happy and balanced flock from the start.

Step 2: Select Your Recommended Coop

Based on the chickens you’ve chosen, we’ll recommend a coop and run that provides the right amount of space, comfort, and security for your flock.

Step 3: Choose Your Accessories

Complete your setup by selecting any accessories you may need, such as feeders, drinkers, bedding, fencing, or enrichment items. The right accessories will help your chickens settle in quickly and make day-to-day care easier.

Step 4: Prepare for Arrival

Your coop and accessories will be delivered directly to your chosen address before your chickens arrive, giving you plenty of time to assemble and prepare their new home.

Step 5: Collect Your Chickens

Once your setup is ready, simply collect your chickens from one of our designated collection points on the date given and introduce them to their new coop. With everything prepared in advance, your hens can settle into their new surroundings straight away.

Build your flock

Choose your chickens and how many of each you’d like. We’ll then recommend the right coop for your flock and add everything to your basket.
